Construction Damage to Trees

Construction activities around trees often leads to their decline and premature death.  Successful construction around trees requires an arborist to take several distinct and important steps to ensure the survival of the tree or trees

Trees suffering severe root damage from construction practices may not display symptoms for 1-3 years.

Successful tree preservation requires planning for the tree's protection. Hire a Certified Arborist to consult on trees within the construction zone and follow through with his or her specific instructions, being sure all contractors and sub-contractors are informed regarding the tree's protection

The tree will need to be monitored at least one growing season after construction has occurred.

When you are successful in keeping the tree alive and vigorous for that period of time you can relax a little and know that you were instrumental in helping to preserve a tree as the bulldozers moved in. Arborist Age
